A Hungry Cat

Out here in the boonies, it's normal to keep up to date on all one's neighbor's, even if one's neighbors are two miles away.  See, two miles doesn't seem like all that much when your closest neighbor is a quarter of a mile away and you can't see another house from your property!

We recently learned that one of our neighbors, a lady in her 90's, had to be taken to a nursing home for hospice care. She left behind a dog and a cat at her home, and her son came by to feed them every once in awhile.

My sister Red runs regularly (Alliterative aren't I?) and she often runs all the way out to this neighbor's house and back again. On some of these runs she noticed that the cat at the neighbor's was getting increasingly thin while the dog was getting fatter and fatter.

Apparently, the dog was stealing the cat's food and the cat got none. The owner had no idea. So Red took it upon herself to ride her bike there every day to feed the cat and make sure it ate.

Jump ahead a month or two . . .

Red just got her driver's permit and drove to the neighbor's house with my dad to feed the cat. The neighbor's son happened to be there and he said we should just take the cat home!

So.

We now have a new cat.

It's hard to get a picture of her, she's always running towards me to get pet!

We were informed that her name is 'Sammy,' but we decided to call her 'Reese' instead (Like Reese's Cup).  She's about 12 or 13 years old and rather scruffy, probably due to her age.

I think she's here to stay. We all rather like her, as she's very affectionate, though my cat, Ferdi is not at all pleased with the new addition!

    1. A little scraggly, but yes, she's pretty. :)

I think cats are allowed to be scraggly if they're 12 years old.
