Homemade Detergent

A lot of people find odd, and others find it not unusual, but we make our own laundry detergent in our household.  Well, I do.

It's much cheaper than store bought, works just as well, and is easy to make.  It takes only for ingredients.

These three and water.

The soap is the hardest part, since it has to be grated.

Cook it all up in various amounts and pour into a bucket with water.

5 gallons worth in about 1 hour's work. This will last us 6 or 7 months of laundry, and it's hypo allergenic.

I can't handle most detergents with perfumes and such, make me all stuffy and gives me headaches, which is unusual, usually people who are allergic to detergents get rashes. I don't. I'm just lucky like that.

Anyway, it's cheap, easy, and works well. What's not to like?

If you want the recipe, it's very easy to find if you google it. :)

  1. I know you say the average thoughts of an average girl but I must say you seem far from average. So far you seem like an amazing girl who can do nearly everything from woodworking to sowing to being a successful author to being an excellent aunt. No average there. Can’t wait to meet you.

    1. Thanks. :)

I mostly liked the alliteration, and couldn't think of much else to use. And on the outside I'm average, you just have to get to know me (or read the blog, I guess) to see otherwise
